We believe that local artists are the beating heart of punk music and we create events that showcase those artists and help them thrive.

Volume Bomb has existed in one form or another since 2015. In the beginning, we operated as a sort of DIY, guerilla operation, making compilation records and putting on shows. In 2022 we became an actual business with a real live grown-up LLC. In 2025 we became a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Our model has always functioned similarly to a nonprofit: we put on a show, and once all expenses are covered, any remaining funds go toward paying for the next show. Volume Bomb has always existed solely to perpetuate “the mission”.

By officially becoming a nonprofit, with the ability to accept donations, grants, and other funding, we can expand our impact. This means more and larger events in Portland, as well as opportunities to bring PDX artists to shows in surrounding areas and vice-versa.

There is a Fuck-ton of talent in the PNW that is too often disregarded by mainstream media. Our goal is to showcase these hard working artists. This ethos of rooting for the underdog aligns us with the type of organizations we have collaborated with and fund-raised for in the past. These include the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Don't Shoot PDX and Southern Poverty Law Center, to name a few. We believe that creative endeavors and these values can not be separated and that a strong creative community clearly requires a strong sense of social responsibility.
